A 19th Century Victorian novelty silver mounted horse shoe decanter, the horses hoof silver mounted with a decanter, applied with a strap and buckle, with handle shaped as a jockeys crop, mounted with a spur hinge and a lid in a shape of a jockeys cap. The plain decanter engraved with the motto, "Fide et Virtute", which translates from Latin "By Faith and By Courage" is the family motto of William Ewart Gladstone, four times Prime Minister of the United Kingdom between 1868-1894. Hallmarked English silver (925), London, year 1883 (H), Maker L.D for Louis Dee.
