A very rare Louis Vuitton courier trunk covered in leather. Dating to the early part of the 20th century, covered not in the world famous (but more common) monogram canvas but in a single piece of cow hide. These all-leather trunks were made by special order and Louis Vuitton used to take pride in using only the best hides. These are part of a range of “speciality materials” used by Vuitton, the materials including (but not limited to) zinc, copper, crocodile leather and cow leather. This particular trunk has lovely blue and red “recognition stripes” across the whole outer edge, custom painted by a previous owner. The leather shows wear but is still supple, oozing charm and elegance. A truly great piece for any collector.

Condition: staining on the leather, the leather shows some cracking to the spine which means the lid opens more than the usual 90 degrees but is still very much in working order (please refer to photographs) but overall good vintage condition.

Dimensions: 110cm wide, 59cm high, 57cm deep
