A very rare Louis Vuitton “Ideal” trunk (from French “Malle Idéale”), circa 1900's, features monogram canvas, all brass hardware, and leather trims. This model was initially introduced as the ‘Perfect Trunk’. The double-topped wardrobe trunk opens like a giant toolbox and has retained the original monogram canvas finish. The fine details of the brass lock and draw-bolts, leather binding, and “elephant ear“ leather handles give this luxurious trunk a timeless feel. The trunk also contains two discrete interior compartments. It is rare to find these trunks in as good condition as this one. It is one of the more collectable models featuring in pages 170 and 171 of the book “100 Legendary Trunks”. A wonderful collector’s piece and interior design item suitable for any home, both modern or traditional.
