A massive Norman Hill scale model of M.T. Casper Trader Monrovia crude oil tanker in wood and perspex display case. The finely detailed model was constructed in the 1970s by Scale Models Weston and presented in good condition.

The M.T. Casper Trader Monrovia was built in 1971 by Kawasaki at Kobe, Japan for the Hancock Shipping Co. Ltd., Monrovia. On 23rd May 1984 whilst on voyage from Sakaida to Dumai, Indonesia, she suffered a huge engine room fire in position 7.26N/108.22E in which three crew members lost their lives. The vessel was left to burn under supervision. She was declared a constructive total loss and towed to Kaohsiung via Singapore to be broken up in August 1984.

Boardroom ship models are highly collectible and they are expensive one-off models presented to the owners who could proudly display their fleet in the boardrooms of their headquarters.

The model ship building company was founded by Norman Hill. Known as Scale Models Weston, it has been making high quality models for the shipping industry for nearly 50 years.
