A modular “Gronda” mirror coat rack by Luciano Bertoncini for Elco with clear glass modules, Italy, 1970s
A modular “Gronda” mirror coat rack designed by Luciano Bertoncini for Elco in the 1970s. The composition includes five clear mirrored glass panels, each vertical module concealing a pull-out hanger that allows the system to function both as a mirror and as a discreet coat rack.
Luciano Bertoncini (born 1939) was an influential Italian designer whose work bridged minimalism and industrial innovation. The “Gronda,” created in collaboration with Joe Colombo, epitomises the sleek, modular aesthetic of Italian design during the 1970s. Its combination of functionality and visual rhythm transforms a practical object into a refined architectural element.
Condition: overall very good vintage condition. The “smudges” visible in the photographs are due to the studio lights picking up any smearing effect but they clean up perfectly. Mechanism on all works well, no damage to the mirrors. No bracket for mounting onto a wall. Please refer to photographs
Dimensions: 19.5cm wide, 200cm high, 6cm deep (each)
