A set of brass faux bamboo nesting tables by Maison Jansen, France, circa 1980

£495.00

A stylish set of Maison Jansen faux bamboo nesting tables, featuring brass frames with clear glass tops and lower tiers. Designed in the signature faux bamboo form synonymous with the Maison Jansen aesthetic, the frames are raised on castors, combining elegance with practical versatility.

The clean lines, paired with the warm brass finish and transparent glass surfaces, create a refined Hollywood Regency look. The nesting design allows the tables to be arranged together as a tiered display or separated for individual use, making them both decorative and functional.

Maison Jansen was a Paris-based interior decoration office founded in 1880 by Dutch-born Jean-Henri Jansen. Jansen is considered the first truly global design firm, serving clients in Europe, Latin America, North America and the Middle East. Throughout the firm's history, it employed a traditional style drawing upon European design, but influence of contemporary trends including the Vienna Secession, Modernism, and Art Deco has also appeared in Jansen interiors and in much of the custom furniture the firm produced between 1920 and 1950. Under Boudin's leadership, Maison Jansen provided services to the royal families of Belgium, Iran, and Serbia as well as Elsie de Wolfe and Lady Olive Baillie’s Leeds Castle in Kent, England. The firm's most published work was a project by Boudin and Paul Manno, the head of Jansen's New York office, for the U.S. White House during the administration of John F Kennedy. At the same time, Jansen completed the interior of the motor yacht Chambel IV, now renamed Northwind II. Northwind II is one of the few remaining complete Jansen commissions.

Condition: good vintage condition overall. Brass frames show tarnishing consistent with age and use, and one leg has taken a knock. Glass panels in good order with light surface wear. Structurally sound. Please refer to photographs.
