£7,995.00

A stunning vintage wet bar finished in alcantara leather, steel, and burr walnut, designed and engineered by Willy Rizzo in the 1970s. Among the most iconic and glamorous creations in Rizzo’s design portfolio, his bars have become highly sought after by collectors and interior connoisseurs alike. This particular example, realised in the 1970s, is in superb condition and exemplifies his bold and functional design language.

Unlike a typical dry bar, this piece is a true wet bar. Equipped not only with the original fridge and freezer compartment for ice blocks, but also with a built-in sink, making it ideal for preparing cocktails and entertaining with flair. The bar offers handy storage cupboards with glass doors, ideal for barware and spirits, and the inclusion of burr walnut detailing adds a rich, warm contrast to the suede-clad front panels and chromed finishes.

The set comprises of a counter with a mirrored glass top, chromed sides, and alcantara accents. The rear console bar is fitted with illuminated shelving backed by mirrors, casting a warm ambient glow when lit, perfect for evening entertaining. The shelving unit is designed to stand neatly against a wall, with the main bar positioned just in front of it as seen in the photographs, though it can be reconfigured in other ways depending on available space and the desired flow.

About the designer: Renowned Italian designer Willy Rizzo is celebrated for producing dramatic, eye-catching showpieces that merged luxurious materials, plush fabrics, exotic woods, metals, and glass, in highly functional forms. Initially trained as a photographer, Rizzo captured iconic images of Hollywood stars and European royalty before turning to furniture design in the late 1960s when he began creating bespoke pieces for his own Roman apartment. Demand for his designs quickly grew, leading him to establish a workshop in Tivoli that employed over 150 craftsmen.

Rizzo’s work drew inspiration from modernist architects such as Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier, blending their clean lines with an unmistakable touch of Italian glamour. His clients included Brigitte Bardot, Salvador Dalí, and Lenny Kravitz, among others. Today, his furniture remains highly collectible, appreciated for its enduring appeal and cinematic elegance.

Condition: The illuminated shelving and refrigerator were both in working order at the time of collection; however, we recommend that all electrical components be inspected by a qualified electrician prior to use. The sink also needs to be connected by a qualified plumber but can also not be used and simply covered by the original steel cover. The standing bar and console are in excellent condition with only light age-related blemishes. Minor scratches to the mirrored top and small dings to the chrome, as well as light staining on the alcantara panels, but consistent with light domestic use over several decades.
