An agate and brass clad coffee table by Willy Daro, Belgium, 1970s

£4,995.00

A rare and unusual coffee table by Willy Daro, made in Belgium in the 1970s. The coffee table embossed and acid etched on brass with an agate inset and abstract motifs. Signed "Willy Daro" to the top, this extremely chic coffee table is a true statement piece. Elegant, unique, and an extremely sought after piece of post-war art furniture.

Willy Daro owned Les Nouveaux Ateliers Willy Daro and worked in Brussels from the late 1960s to 1987. His pieces are fabulous examples of an eccentric, modern and bold style. He is particularly well known today for his lamps and furniture, where he often combined brass and chrome with large natural materials such as agate, semi-precious stones, coral and shells, or botanical and floral sculptural forms. The designs from the 1970s combined the Brutalist style with fossils and minerals. Daro’s designs were sophisticated, with luxurious materials and great attention to detail, making each item a unique sculptural piece of art.
