A hand blown orange and white Murano glass table lamp, Italy, recent manufacture
A spherical Murano glass table lamp in clear glass with internal opaline sculptural forms and a wide warm orange band running around the equator, presented on a white circular base. The object reads highly contemporary and spatial, and the composition of internal form inside external form creates a slow reading glass mass that feels architectural, sculptural and calm. Decorative value is strong because the lamp behaves more like an art glass object than a lamp, and the warm orange register gives elegant colour without overwhelming a room.
Recent Murano manufacture allows this high level of internal shaping to be executed with clarity and control, and the combination of opaline interior with transparent exterior gives exceptional atmospheric lighting behaviour when illuminated.
