£995.00

An elegant set of three Murano glass table lamps made in Venice, Italy in the 1980s. Known as the “calla“ (or lily) model, these lamps were crafted entirely by hand on the famous island of Murano in the late 1970’s / early 1980s. They have a streaked or pinstripe motif which sets these lamps apart from the norm and work so well in any interior, whether traditional or modern. Althought the lamps have not been signed and have lost the original manufacturer’s label they are almost certainly attributable to the famous Venini glassmakers.

Paolo Venini was born 1895 in Venice, Italy, he was an Italian glassmaker, designer and manufacturer of glassware whose works are outstanding for their combination of traditional technique and modern form. His glass factory in Murano contributed to a revival of art-glass manufacturing in the 1930s and ’40s and employed some of the finest designers of the period, among them Gio Ponti and Tyra Lundgren. Venini, the company, continued to produce glass artworks even beyond the maestro’s death in 1959, maintaining an extremely high standard which is still sought after by collectors worldwide.

Condition: excellent, please refer to photographs. Any variation in colour that can be seen in the photographs when the lamps are turned on is due to the bulb used during photography, not the glass itself.
