A "Modern Classic" Eero Saarinen pedestal dining table, custom black marble with painted aluminium tulip shaped sub-base filled with concrete for maximum support. Saarinen (b.1910-d.1961) was a Finnish architect and designer most well known for designing the elegant "Gateway Arch" Westward Expansion monument in St. Louis, Missouri. Designed in 1957 for Knoll International, Knoll logo and signature are stamped into the base of the table. The elegant pedestal table desk, introduced in 1957, exudes executive quality. Despite being conceived for the office, the table has found itself in many dining rooms over the last fifty years.
