A striking and large-scale Bay Keramik floor vase dating to the 1960s–1970s, exemplifying the bold forms and experimental glazing techniques that established West German ceramics as some of the most distinctive decorative arts of the post-war period. Standing an impressive 52cm in height, the vase possesses a commanding sculptural presence and makes a dramatic decorative statement.

The tall baluster-form body is decorated with vivid bands of fiery red and orange lava glaze, contrasted by heavily textured black volcanic-style bands that encircle the vessel.
