A faux tusk dining table in the manner of Valenti, Spain, circa 1970s
A striking dining table in the manner of Valenti, dating to the 1970s, distinguished by its dramatic sculptural base inspired by stylised elephant tusks. The design combines organic form with a glamorous modern aesthetic, creating a highly decorative centrepiece that is both functional and visually impressive.
The base is formed from four sweeping faux ivory elements, each curving gracefully upward from a square plinth to support the circular glass top above. Their elegant, flaring form creates a sense of movement and symmetry, while the warm ivory tones contrast beautifully with the transparency of the glass. The result is a sculptural composition that can be appreciated from every angle.
Strongly reminiscent of the luxurious and sculptural furniture produced by Valenti during the 1970s, the table reflects the period's fascination with exotic forms and dramatic materials. The substantial glass top allows the sculptural base to remain fully visible, emphasising the architectural quality of the design while creating a sense of lightness.
Ideal as a dining table or statement centre table, the piece offers a distinctive blend of Hollywood Regency glamour and modernist sculpture, making it a striking addition to both contemporary and period interiors.
Condition is good overall, with wear commensurate with age and use. The glass top has a small chip to the edge, together with light surface marks consistent with use. Minor age-related wear is present to the base. Please refer to the photographs.
Dimensions of glass: 1cm high, 120cm diameter
Dimensions of base: 72cm high, 80cm diameter at the top.
