The chandelier is formed from an architectural arrangement of square-section aluminium elements, positioned at varying heights and connected by projecting horizontal arms to create the bold geometric composition associated with Sciolari’s lighting of the period.

Each light is fitted with a substantial square-form shade, combining frosted and clear material with highly decorative amber-coloured inclusions concentrated towards the lower section. When illuminated, these contrasting elements give the chandelier a particularly dramatic appearance, softening the strong geometric framework while introducing warmth and texture.

Gaetano Sciolari was one of the most distinctive Italian lighting designers of the post-war period. His work of the 1960s and 1970s frequently combined repeated geometric forms with chrome, polished metal, glass and acrylic, producing sculptural lighting that bridged Italian modernism and the more glamorous aesthetic of the 1970s. The construction and composition of the present chandelier are closely associated with his geometric and Cubic-type designs.

Its unusually large multi-light configuration gives the piece considerable presence, making it particularly suitable as a statement chandelier above a dining table, within an entrance hall or in a large living space.

Condition: in good vintage condition with wear, marks and light oxidation consistent with age and use. Some of the diffusers with minor chips to the glass edges but positioned inside the chandelier frame and therefore not visible outside. The electrical components should be checked by a qualified electrician prior to installation. Please refer to photographs.
