A chromed metal floor lamp, Italy, circa 1980

£695.00

A sculptural three stem floor lamp in chromed metal with a circular white metal base and three cylindrical lamp bodies rising at slightly differing heights. The diffusers are milky white glass with cut tops and read very architectural and clean in silhouette. The bulbs themselves are multicoloured not the diffusers, so the user can choose any desired colour expression or revert to neutral white if preferred, which dramatically changes the emotional behaviour of the lamp in a room. Decorative value is high because the lamp reads both pop and futurist minimal at the same time and the totem verticality gives it strong field presence even unlit.

Three position switching allows only one, or two, or all three to be lit depending on desired mood, so the lamp operates as a flexible atmospheric tool rather than a single fixed output lighting piece. Contemporary interiors, postmodern interiors, and Italian 1970s and 1980s influenced rooms all take this well, because the object is simple enough to cohabit but sculptural enough to command space quietly.
