A beautiful illuminating “Accolay“ coffee table or side table made in France in the 1960s. The table top is entirely made of resin with inclusions of natural elements like leaves, flowers and butterflies, typical of the Accolay workmanship. It creates the most incredible luminous effect when turned on, a stunning piece of mid century furniture that works in perfect harmony in any vintage or modern interior.
Accolay is a very small commune in the Yonne department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in north-central France, known for its small pottery made famous by Christian Dior. It was founded in the 1940s by four artists: André Boutaud, Louis Dangon, Slavic Paley and Raude. The factory flourished in the 1950s and 1960s, and it was during this period they experimented with pottery infused with resin, and then went on to design and produce resin-only objects of great beauty, including lamps and tables.
Condition: in good working order, good overall vintage condition, some fraying to the edges of the stand where the metal mount is in contact with the resin base but not visible when mounted and not detrimental to the structure of the coffee table. Minor blemishes and chips to the edges of the table top, please refer to photographs.
