An impressive and unusually tall English silver-plated champagne or wine cooler by Bristol Mayfair, dating from the mid-20th century.

Of elegant pedestal form, the elongated tapering body is raised on a slender stem above a broad trumpet-shaped circular foot. The surface is extensively hand-hammered, giving the silver plate an attractive textured finish, while the removable upper section is fitted with a substantial swing handle, allowing it to be lifted and used separately as an ice or bottle bucket.

The underside is stamped “Bristol Mayfair” and “50 Hollandia Plate”, together with further maker’s marks.

Its considerable scale and striking proportions make this a particularly decorative piece, ideal as a floor-standing champagne cooler beside a dining table or drinks cabinet.

Condition: in good vintage condition with surface wear, scratches and areas of wear to the silver plating consistent with age and use. Please refer to photographs.
