A Murano art glass applied trailing and millefiori vase, Venice, Italy, late 20th century
A large and visually striking Murano art glass vase, dating to the late 20th century, of impressive scale and flared form. The body is decorated in richly mottled tones of turquoise, green, and amber, creating a fluid, organic ground reminiscent of marbled stone or flowing water.
Encircling the midsection are multiple bands of applied trailing in vivid colours including red, blue, yellow, and white, giving the piece a highly textured and dynamic surface. These raised trails add depth and movement, contrasting beautifully with the smoother marbled body beneath. The upper rim is gently flared with a softly undulating edge and a warm yellow interior, enhancing the overall sculptural presence.
The combination of traditional Murano techniques, layered colour, applied trailing, and millefiori inclusions, demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship and reflects the bold, expressive direction of late 20th-century Venetian studio glass.
A substantial and decorative Murano glass vase, offering strong visual impact and craftsmanship, ideal as a statement interior piece or for collectors of contemporary art glass.
