A Murano glass handkerchief vase, Italy, 20th century
A decorative Murano glass vase of distinctive handkerchief form, the body fashioned in softly opaque white glass with subtle mottled inclusions of green, amber and ochre.
The upper edge is dramatically folded and undulating, creating the characteristic free-flowing silhouette associated with Murano handkerchief vases, and is finished with a vivid cobalt-blue rim. The combination of the irregular folded form and contrasting colours gives the piece a particularly sculptural quality.
Hand-blown in Murano, Italy, 20th century.
