A charming vintage porcelain ashtray by Hermès Paris, dating from the second half of the 20th century.
Of rectangular form with two cigarette rests, the ashtray is beautifully decorated with a colourful ornithological scene depicting exotic birds amongst leafy branches and blue flowers. The central decoration is framed by a green bamboo-style border, while the sides are finished in pale blue with a gilt rim.
The side bears the gilt ‘HERMÈS PARIS’ signature. These decorative porcelain ashtrays were produced by Hermès in a wide variety of sporting, equestrian, maritime and natural history designs and are increasingly collected as decorative objects in their own right.
Condition: in good vintage condition with surface wear, scratches and marks consistent with age and use, including some wear to the gilt decoration. Please refer to photographs.
