An impressive taxidermy shoulder mount of a Burchell’s zebra, dating from the late 20th century.

The specimen is presented in a naturalistic manner, retaining its distinctive black and white striped hide, upright ears and short mane. The expressive modelling of the head and generous shoulder mount give the piece considerable presence when displayed on a wall.

Burchell’s zebra is a southern subspecies of the plains zebra, native to southern Africa and named after the English explorer and naturalist William John Burchell (1781–1863). It is particularly recognisable for the characteristic pattern of broad black stripes, often accompanied by lighter shadow stripes across the hindquarters.

A striking decorative taxidermy specimen, well suited to an eclectic interior, collection or cabinet of curiosities.

Condition: in good vintage condition with surface wear, marks and some natural variation and losses consistent with age and the nature of the specimen. Please refer to photographs.
