A silk carré “Grand Uniforme” by Hugo Grygkar for Hermès, France, late 20th century

£395.00

A classic Hermès silk carré titled Grand Uniforme, designed by Hugo Grygkar, one of the most important early designers for Hermès. Originally issued in the mid-20th century and reinterpreted in various colourways over time, this design remains one of the maison’s most enduring military-themed compositions.

The scarf features an ornate ceremonial dress uniform jacket richly adorned with gold braiding, frogging, cords, and tassels, rendered with exceptional precision. The composition is framed by a border of interlaced rope and knot motifs, reinforcing Hermès’ signature equestrian and regimental aesthetic. This example is executed in an elegant palette of warm gold tones set against a deep brown ground, with ivory highlights providing contrast and clarity.

Printed on Hermès’ signature silk twill, the scarf has a soft yet structured handle, with hand-rolled and hand-stitched edges—an essential mark of quality and craftsmanship.

A highly collectible Hermès design, particularly sought after due to its authorship by Hugo Grygkar and its strong visual identity. Ideal for both wear and display, and an essential example of classic Hermès carré design.

Condition: excellent condition with minimal signs of wear. The silk retains its lustre and body, and the colours remain vibrant. Presented with original Hermès box.
