An iconic Italian ‘Flash’ floor lamp from the Clan series, designed by Studio 6G for Harvey Guzzini, dating from the early 1970s.

A superb example of Italian Space Age lighting, the lamp features the distinctive large rounded orange shade raised on a slender chrome-plated stem and circular base. The bold, almost spherical form of the shade and its vivid orange finish contrast beautifully with the minimal chrome support, giving the lamp the futuristic appearance for which Guzzini lighting of this period is particularly celebrated.

Importantly, this example retains the additional white internal diffuser, which sits within the main orange shade and is visible as a domed element above it. These internal diffusers are frequently missing or damaged on surviving examples, making its presence an important feature of this lamp. When illuminated, the diffuser softens and distributes the light through the coloured outer shade, producing a particularly warm atmospheric glow.

The Clan series exemplifies the experimental approach to plastics, colour and light that characterised Italian design during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Studio 6G created a family of highly sculptural lighting designs for Harvey Guzzini that have since become closely associated with the Space Age aesthetic.

A particularly complete and visually striking example of one of Guzzini’s most recognisable period designs.

Condition: in good vintage condition with wear and marks consistent with age and use. Importantly, the internal white diffuser is present and intact. The electrical components should be checked by a qualified electrician prior to use. Please refer to photographs.
