A Murano glass vase, Italy, late 20th century

£395.00

A striking Murano glass vase dating to the late 20th century, showcasing the bold sculptural forms and vibrant colour combinations for which Venetian glassmakers are celebrated. Rich in texture and visual depth, the vase demonstrates the fusion of traditional Murano craftsmanship with contemporary artistic expression.

The rounded cylindrical body is executed in a luminous turquoise-blue glass richly infused with fine silver leaf inclusions, creating a shimmering surface that catches and reflects the light from every angle. Applied around the exterior are dramatic freeform trails of dark amethyst, emerald green, and smoky black glass, which cascade organically across the body in a highly sculptural arrangement. These thick applied elements create a strong sense of movement while adding substantial depth and contrast to the composition.

The interplay between the vibrant blue ground, sparkling silver inclusions, and the darker applied decoration produces a particularly striking visual effect. The layered glasswork demonstrates the technical skill of the Murano craftsmen, while the substantial weight and tactile quality of the applied ornamentation emphasise the sculptural nature of the piece.

Combining traditional Murano techniques with a distinctly modern aesthetic, this vase serves as both a functional vessel and a sculptural decorative object, making it an impressive statement piece within both contemporary and traditional interiors.

Condition is good overall, with no apparent chips, cracks, or restorations visible under normal inspection. Minor surface wear commensurate with age and handling may be present. Please refer to the photographs.
