A refined moulded glass bowl from the Marguerites series by René Lalique, produced by Lalique in France. The bowl features a continuous frieze of stylised daisy flowers in relief around the exterior, contrasted by a radiating ribbed pattern to the interior, demonstrating Lalique’s mastery of light, texture, and depth. The design reflects the transition from Art Nouveau naturalism towards the more structured geometry that defined Lalique’s Art Deco period, while retaining a strong botanical influence. A satin finished surface enhances the sculptural quality of the glass and allows the floral motifs to catch and diffuse light with subtle elegance. The Marguerites pattern remains one of Lalique’s most recognisable and enduring decorative designs, valued for both its decorative presence and historical significance.

Based on the form of the signature shown, which appears to read “Lalique France”, the bowl most likely dates to the period after the death of René Lalique in 1945 when the company marked works in this way, under the leadership of his son Marc and the modern Lalique company. Pieces marked “Lalique France” are representative of postwar crystal production rather than the earlier “R. Lalique” signatures used during René’s lifetime, and this postwar identification helps place the age of the bowl within the mid twentieth century.
